About Us
Rob Lorimer founded Position One Consulting in 2004 and is the managing partner. He has over twenty years experience in location technologies.
Rob has held several senior executive roles within the industry including CEO of Beeline Technology (a pioneer of GPS auto-steering for agricultural machinery), managing director of Trimble Asia Pacific and as a business manager for Trimble Europe, Middle East and Africa.
His corporate experience includes company directorships in Australia, Singapore, USA, Philippines and Japan and advisory board positions to companies in Australia, UK and the USA. Business experience encompasses high growth ventures, capital raising, mergers, corporate restructuring and large contract negotiations.
Rob is a member of the advisory committee of the International Global Navigation Satellite Systems (IGNSS) Society and Chairs the special interest group “Location Australia”.
He graduated with a BSc 1st Class (Hons) from the University of Cardiff (a leading UK earth sciences institute) and completed his post-graduate business studies at the University of Queensland, Australia. Publications include numerous papers and articles and authorship of Global Navigation – A GPS Users Guide (1991,1994) one of the earliest books to deal with the application of GPS.
